Palácio Do Governador Awarded by the Newspaper Construir

25 oct, 2016

Hotel Palácio do Governador, of the NAU Hotels & Resorts Group, was distinguished as the best tourist enterprise in the Awards of the newspaper Construir which, in partnership with the magazine Anteprojectos, paid tribute to the most outstanding companies, works, professionals and solutions in the last year in the area of construction and architecture.

Inaugurated this year, Palácio do Governador, in Lisbon, is a five star boutique hotel, which has conquered various awards for the work accomplished in the recovery of this building that was the residence of the Governor of the Tower of Belém since the sixteenth century.

The duo of architects Jorge Cruz Pinto and Maria Cristina Mantas designed the architectural project, with the premise of maintaining, to the extent possible, the architectural features and structure of the original building. The rehabilitation was carried out by the Contractor Casais with the decorator Nini Andrade Silva having been in charge of the interior decoration.

The most emblematic boutique hotel of the city of Lisbon, Palácio do Governador is the first new hotel developed by the NAU Hotels & Resorts Group where, apart from having been erected in the former Residence of the Governor of the Tower of Belém, it was restored, preserving Roman remains of the 1st to 5th centuries. Palácio do Governador is a palatial building, with a reception that was once a chapel, a restaurant with its original vaulted ceilings and a contemporary spa reminiscent of the ancient spa bathing traditions of the Mediterranean cultures.

In the midst of the historic centre of Belém and located on the banks of the River Tejo, this Nau Hotels & Resorts establishment presents a unique historic legacy focused on quality and exclusivity. The hotel offers 60 rooms, all different, a premium restaurant with signature cuisine, a spa covering 1,200 m2, an outdoor swimming pool and many other charms to conquer the hearts of Lisbon's residents and all the tourists visiting the city of Lisbon.
